Slender: The Arrival

Slender: The Arrival was first released on March 24th, 2013, followed by releases on Playstation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, Playstation 4, Xbox One, and Steam.

Working in collaboration with Victor Surge (Creator of Slender Man) and the content creators of Marble Hornets web series, I led the Narrative Design of the first official video game adaptation of Slender Man. Due to the open-source nature of the mythology, this required much research to unravel the most common narrative threads in order to weave them into the fiction. After the initial release, we paid very close attention to fan feedback and found ways to dig more deeply into the mythology and further expand the narrative with more content. In addition to my narrative duties, I planned the level layout and puzzles for the game's largest level.

The greatest challenge on this project was finding ways to deliver a compelling story on a very low budget. This required crafting as much narrative anchored to the gameplay as possible in order to mitigate costly animations and cutscenes.
